About the show
Robbie Turnbull is a solo performer who balances playing fingerstyle guitar with singing, while operating a kick-drum and tambourine with his feet. His music ranges from the gentle folk ballads of his first album to the heavier grunge/country pieces of his newest release "Cautionary Tales". This concert is the first of a small BC tour to promote this second album, and to go along with a limited vinyl run. Robbie Turnbull's music typically follows traditional folk and country structure, but it often incorporates bolder and more experimental harmonic structure, influenced heavily by his time studying contemporary music theory as a Jazz vocalist. His lyrics often follow a more traditional poetic structure and lexicon, but with more modern messages of environmentalism and progressive ideologies.
