the sound the first hand-me-down guitar you learned how to play on as a kid makes when it gets to heaven, while the drums still shackled to this mortal coil reflects on the time they used to spend together.
Like a head charge into the maelstrom, Cherub Weaponry is the duo consisting of Canadian improv’ guitarist, Colin Alexander Fisher, and drummer Maxwell Patterson.
On their debut LP, Flower of Dreaming, the pair pull their past endeavours into the present, emitting the the kind of noise akin to two comets colliding.
Over the years, both have operated deep across the experimental landscape.
Fisher, having worked alongside Guelph, Ontario favourites, The Constantines, as well as Rhys Chatham, Anthony Braxton, Jaimie Branch, and many more; Maxwell, firmly entrenched in the noise-rock pantheon as part of the duo, Pet Retina, and also working under the I/O moniker, the drummer has also sent more percussive tremors through the world via the aptly titled Really Loud Free Jazz.

"maze-walls of chaos and pretty melodies; faro explores unconscious/subconscious music making. idk something like dat. im not good w that stuff man"
Faro is the musical project of Chavo Gomez (drums), Jack Lee (trumpet), and Jake Kostuchuk (guitar). Inspired by their surroundings on the west coast of Canada, Faro creates vast soundscapes reminiscent of the oceans, forests, and mountains that surround them. The band aims to explore the subconscious and physical nature of playing music, as well as deep listening to one another. Through walls of noise and chaos, pretty melodies unfold and reveal themselves to the listener. -Faro Bandcamp

what will they do next?
slingjaw workshops a new set for every show based on what we know about the room and the people we're playing with. We feel an urgency at this time to create with immediacy to help process grief, and the anxieties of witnessing the dominant structure double down on its parasitic intent. "amorphous no fun city now wave"

Conduit Gallery is humbly situated on the occupied and unceded ancestral territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwu7mesh (Squamish), and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We are uninvited guests on what is now called the Downtown Eastside (DTES) of Vancouver.
The DTES is a community that continues to be harmed by the workings of colonization and settler-imposed power structures, particularly the war on drugs/war on poverty. Conduit Gallery operates in this awareness, seeks to be respectful of the neighbourhood and street entrenched folks, and is invested in the ongoing work of resisting this violence and creating sustainable communities that benefit people that need support.
