Future Star

Future Star is: an unfinished musical, a song you can't quite remember, a picture that reminds you of how a song made you feel. Based in Vancouver, this bedroom popstar has been releasing catchy keyboard music with “sweet and comically candid lyrics” (Discorder) since 2016 with whatever time is scraped out of the bottom of the frying pan that is the week. One time, a woman in a senior's choir she was volunteering with said to her "Thank you for sharing your gift!" At the end of the day - Future Star is a pretty girl who sings about her feelings.

With influences that include musical artists like Arthur Russell, Magnetic Fields and Kero Kero Bonito and visual artists such as Lynda Barry, Future Star has built a reputation for creating intimate live performances "loaded with understated significance and beauty" (Exclaim!).

After working with Kingfisher Bluez in 2021 for their first full length vinyl "When Will the DJ of Luv Grant Me My 1 Request?", Future Star signed with Mint Records in early 2024. "It's About Time!", their first album with Mint Records, is available now to stream on all platforms and on vinyl and cassette. "It's About Time!" is Future Star's reflection on growth, endings, and the paths we choose to take. What does it mean to walk forward if we never look at how we got here?
