The first show for our newly rebranded collective art/music studio/venue; downtown Duncan (Formally known as Time & Space Continuum) Enter THE PORTAL studios. What was once led by Ky Ren (and friends volunteering sometimes) is now run by an 8 person board of directors, and is coming together in a new light, with upgrades and makeovers. We're tightening up the ship, getting that weight of Ky's back. 

So we figured, being the first show for the new rebranding, why kick it off with bringing back some of the main local bands that had killed it multiple times at the space in the past? These three bands are staples in the Cowichan Valley:

THE FLOWERING EYEBALLS - A band that has many names, an array of sounds, no fears, and a mission to jam- molting songs entirely improv in the studio, relearns their favourites, and brings them to a live setting. From alt rock to folk, kraut to punk, drone to experimental; they cover almost the entire map of genres at one point or another, so you never know what to expect! Aidan Thorne (Zuzu's Petals) fronts the stage, with the base being held down by the studio's own Kyren Teufel, and occasionally bringing friends to the stage to let loose with. 

GHOST PIPE - Originally a father/son rock and roll duo outfit, now featuring a friend on bass! These guys will surely get your head bobbing. Eddy's extremely tight drumming has put other drummers in awe since they starteed performing when he was 14. Fills like you won't believe. Steven's dirty guitar hooks and rustic growl's carrying the songs into the abyss. Caillums  phat, chunky bass riffs pulling it all together for the team. Sharp, precise, and stern deliveries of classic and modern rock sounds all around the board. They're most often heavy as heck, so you might want to get yourselves some earplugs for this one. 

RAD MAMMALS - Our close friend Reid Williams newest band, a duo between him and Allan Cameron: a long time well respected drum teacher here in the valley. Reid switches his usual guitar playing with a bass guitar. Together they make catchy, driving tunes that make ya wanna dance. Sometimes also playing some of Reid's solo classics, or hits from his early band 'No Don't Stop!' (whom were another Duncan essential when they were around) You can really tell that these guys truly have fun up there, playing all sorts of funky/world beats underneath original folk/indie rock material. If you wanna know what Cowichan Valley sounds like for the past 15 years, you better start here.

All three of these band's original sounds mesh deliciously together. All you rock and folk lovers out there will especially appreciate this evening. We'd be sad to see you miss this one. Save yourself 10$ and secure a ticket NOW - Limited Capacity!!!
